Happy Birthday Zach

Today is Zach's 27th birthday. We celebrated yesterday at my mom's with a pool party and bbq. We all had a great time. Zach took the day off today and my mom gave hime a gift card to el torito so my mom is going to watch Shawn tonight so we can have a nice peaceful dinner out. Here are some pictures from yesterday. I forgot my camera so I had to steal this slide show from Candy. Thanks Candy

Train Set

Shawn received a new train set from Cathie for his birthday. My Mom saved Daniel's train table from when he was a child. I picked up the table top this morning and Zach will have to pick up the rest of the table and the stand in his car. But this will work for now. Shawn is napping right now but I'm sure he will love it when he wakes up.

My Italian Stallion

We were over all pretty mellow this weekend. Shawn pretty much layed around all day Saturday and watched "Bugs Life", "Peter Pan" and "Jurassic Park" Here is a picture of Shawn enjoying his movies.Other than his trunks this was his outfit of choice for the entire weekend! At about 4 on Saturday we headed over to the pool with Daddy. Shawn and Zach swam for almost 3 hours. I sat in the jacuzzi for an hour and then layed down and shut my eyes. I was so drained by the end of Saturday. We went home and made some pasta for dinner.

Shawn LOVES his pasta. He definitely got my Italian genes.

Pointing to the kitchen for MORE pasta

Here is Bully looking for some pasta on the floor. Shawn usually slips him something.

We've Been Sick

So we have basically been sick for the past week. I had a really bad urinary tract infection that started Friday and I ended up in the E.R Saturday night. Then Shawn got a pretty bad cold on Tuesday and had a fever of 104. Poor baby. Then by Wednesday afternoon I had the same cold going on . Anyways today was pretty much our first day out this week minus doctor offices. We joined another play group that is for mom's in foothill ranch. Today we went to our first playdate ,which was at the park right across the street from our house. Shawn had fun playing at the park with all the kids. All the mom's were really nice. Here is a group photo. Guess who's child didn't want a photo taken.
I was being pretty lazy as far as picture taking was going but here is a picture of Shawn on his skateboard.
When we got home Shawn had lunch and was watching Curious George. I was doing laundry and when I cam out to the family room this is what I found. Shawn totally passed out. He doesn't do this often but when he does I'm so thankful. It gives me hope that maybe one day Shawn will actually be able to lay down on his own and fall asleep without his mommy, daddy, grandma or uncle Dan laying with him! He's so cute!

SUGAR HIGH!!!!

A sugar high is easy to do, when you start your day like this.
Don't all kids drink coffee while watching cartoons?

Yum Yum
He's so hot. We went to Salt Creek today with Kari and her kids. Before we left the beach Shawn got into some chocolate chip cookies. He ran up the whole hill to the parking lot. I was shocked it made my walk up the hill much easier without having to push my 30 pounder up the hill. He literally ran the whole way up the hill in his diaper covered in chocolate.

5 Minutes later this was Shawn at a red light. He totally crashed. A nice added benefit of a day at the beach. Shawn has never not fallen asleep after the beach, we are so lucky to live here.

A Playhouse and a Potty

This morning we went to the store and bought a big boy potty. Shawn sat on it for a while but didnt go potty on it. O well he will when he is ready. My Mom's neighbor also gave us this log cabin. Shawn loves it. Our patio is small but we made it work. So nice of Lisa to give it to us.

I was trying to get a picture of him but he didn't want to get his picture taken.

As I'm writing this he is standing in there eating his chinese food. So cute. Bully is also standing in there trying to score some mandarin orange chicken

wild rivers

We went to Wild River's on Friday with, Kari, Nick, Mason, Alex and Gabi. We had a great time and I will probably take Shawn back at the end of the month with Anna and Lunette. But I have been debating buying a pass since June and I'm glad I didn't buy one. I can't honestly see myself going there once a week. It was really hot kids running crazy everywhere. And there were a few times Shawn totally got sucked underwater. Thank God he had a life jacket on and I was right there. This will be a place we will be going a lot maybe next year or when he's about 4. Kari and I both agreed it is just better for older kids our babies are way to active for that place. And on top of it all I broke out with an awful rash all over my arms and thighs last night. My mom thinks its from the nasty water there. I dont know if she's right but I have a feeling it most likely is. If it doesn't get better by noon today I'm going to call my doctor. Anyways here are some pictures. I didn't take very many because I was in the water with Shawn most of the time and I didn't want to ruin my camera.
Shawn chowing down on juice and pretzels.
Shawn kicking it in the water.

Kari with her 3 kids and Nick's friend Mason.

Shawn going down the slide on his side. We found this area in the back of the park it was the least crowded and safe for the kids to go in alone. Bummer there were only 2 slides there.

Gabi going down by herself

Shawn going down on his belly

Alexa and Gabi going down together. Shawn is waiting at the bottom for them

Shawn chilling with my diet pepsi

Gabi was so tired by the end of the day she justed wanted to roll up in her towel. Too cute~

Beach Day

After a nice mellow 4th I decided today we needed to beat the heat and go to the beach. While I was packing up for the beach this morning, I heard a banging noise coming from the bathroom. I went in and found Shawn sitting in the sink and using mine and Zach's toothbrushes like drum sticks in the sink. He thought he was pretty hot stuff sitting up there and was not to excited about getting down.We headed down to Salt Creek around 11:30am. If you haven't guessed by now this is my favorite beach in OC. When we got there it was a bit overcast but the sun kept poking in and out.
I like this picture. It looks like this is our own private beach, that just happens to have the ritz carlton in the background. The area we sat in was not very crowded at all. I still sit in the surfing section like I did when I was in high school. You dont have to deal with all the families and the screaming kids like you do in the swimming section. Even though I now fit into that category. When did that happen a stroller, a chair and an umbrella? When we stopped by my mom's to say hi and drop Dan off (he was there surfing so we gave him a ride home) she said "geez you have a lot of stuff with you today" I just mumbled "yeah gone are my days of going to the beach with just a towel and a magazine" O well Shawn is worth it. But for now at least for this summer I am staying in the surfing section. I'm still or still feel to young to sit in the family section.

As you can see the family section looks a bit more crowded and less relaxing.

Shawn waiting to jump in a wave.

He is so happy when he is at the beach!

He likes to run away from the waves.

Shawn trying to build his own castle. He knocked down the one I built him.

Sand and goldfish crackers make a great snack when you are at the beach.

There is Dan, I tried to get a good shot of him surfing but I just couldn't time it right. Shawn stands on the shore and yells Dan every time he sees a surfer. He thinks any blonde guy on a board is his uncle. When Dan got out of the water and Shawn noticed him he was so excited to see Dan at the beach. We had a great time. Shawn jumped in Grandma's pool to rinse off and we headed home. Shawn fell asleep in the car (of course) and is still sleeping. Hopefully he will wake up in time for dinner and be in his normal happy mood.

Happy 4th

Happy 4th of July!
We were actually suppose to have a pretty busy day. We were invited to 4 bbq's. However this morning we just decided to pretty much stay home. Shawn and I got up at 6:45am and went out to the family room, so Zach could sleep in. Shawn played and watched the Disney Channel, while I cleaned the kitchen and the bathroom. Zach got up around 9am and said how about we bail on all are bbq's and just go swim at your mom's, grab lunch, go home take a nap, and then just bbq at home so that's what we did.Zach finished off the beer's leftover from Shawn's party and just layed low. I felt bad at 9pm when we were watching the firework's from the Rose Bowl on t.v and Shawn was so excited. He loves fireworks. However he gets to see them all the time at Disneyland and we will see them at Sea World at least a couple of times this summer. We had a good day just hanging out. Here are some pictures to sum up the day.

Zach thinks he needs to make mean faces when his hair is this short. I shaved it again right before we took off this morning.

Shawn loves when Daddy throws him in the pool

Here is Shawn kicking to Daddy. Just in the past week he has improved in the pool so much. He finally realizes that kicking his legs will get him where he wants to go. A few weeks ago he was just whining for me to drag him everywhere in the pool.

Shawn pushing Grandma's dirt around.
He loves to dig.

Here is our ghetto bbq. Is it just me or does it look like Bully has something up his sleeve.

Shawn chowing down on a hot dog bun. He doesn't like hotdogs but he loves the buns.
Zach after a lot of sun and a lot of beer. This is the face he makes when he doesn't want to be photographed but knows I'm going to take it anyways!

2 Year Check Up

This afternoon we went to Shawn's 2 Year Check up. When we were in the waiting from there was a one week old little boy there for his 1 week check up. He had red hair just like Shawn did when he was born. His mother said he was born last Monday. He was so cute, I told her to enjoy it because in 2 years he will be like Shawn. "Two years??" she asked. "o my gosh he looks like he is at least 3" I know he is huge but they grow up so fast. When they called Shawn's name to go in I realized he had pooped in the waiting room, I swear that kid has to poop every time we go somewhere. The nurse laughed and said he must have known he was going to get weighed. LOL. Anyways I changed his diaper and we weighed him. 30LBS. 38inches. He has been 30 lbs since March, but he has grown 3 inches since January. You have to be 40 inches to ride space mountain and our pass is blocked out the rest of the summer. So I'm hoping he grows 2 inches by September so we can start having some serious fun at Disneyland. I also discovered he had a double ear infection. I didn't even know he was sick, mother of the year award goes to me. He has been eating and sleeping really well lately and hasn't been complaining or pulling at his ear. O well so now he is on antibiotics. But we had a nice visit with Dr. Yohannes and made it out of there in one piece. Other than the heat we are recovering from the party pretty well.

Shawn's Big Bash

Shawn had his party today! He had a pool party at my Mom's house. It was a lot of fun . Here are some pictures to sum up the day.
Shawn was napping before the party but Dad was all ready with his party hat on!

We can just call these photos the calm before the storm. About 30 minutes before our guests arrived.

Here is Shawn in the jacuzzi saying hello to Beth. Also there is Anna, Lunette and Kelly. What a lucky boy to be in the jacuzzi with all those ladies.

Shawn with all the duckies he got for his friends to play with in the pool

Alexa being silly

After Daddy got done barbecuing he got to come over to the jacuzzi and say hi to Shawn and Lunette.

Here is Shawn with all his presents. There is Grandad getting the chairs ready so Shawn could open his gifts.

Allow me to translate for Shawn "Holy wow all this is for me? I really really wanted all this stuff!" He was so excited and so cute.

"Look Grandma, Gaylen got me a spongebob pillow for my spongebob bed"
Lunette and Alexa helping Shawn open his gifts.
Aunt Tricia, Grandad and Mark
Bud, Bobby, Celia, Anna and Chris
Here is Stephanie with her party hat on, we were so happy her and her mom (who I went to jr. high with) were able to come up from San Diego for the day.
Shawn was so happy to get a giggle doodler. He loves those things.

Being shy when everyone was singing to him.

Blowing out his candles.

Uncle Dan being silly.

Here we are still kicking at about 6pm. All 3 of us were exhausted but having so much fun. After all the kids left we had our usual family craziness. Which consists of half of us in the shallow end and half of us in the deep end. We get balls and whatever else is in the pool and basically just try to hit the other team. Its really immature but really fun and funny to watch. Gaylen and Mark were cracking up and had never witnessed this game before. We had a great day. Thank God we drove separately because the Lexus was full of presents there would've been no where for Shawn and I to sit. Shawn defiantly gets the whole party experience now and totally knew it was all for him. What can I say we spoil him and I wouldn't have it any other way.
